Two By-Laws regarding animals are in effect in the City.

Consult the By-Laws:

By-Law 618-19
By-Law 633-19

Dog licences

Do you own a dog? Under municipal regulations, obtaining a medal at a cost of $30 per year is mandatory. It is renewable annually and must be attached to your dog’s neck at all times.

The form is mailed with the tax account and is also available HERE

When the form is completed, one medal per dog will be given to the owner. The licence fee will be automatically charged for subsequent years without the need to renew the medal that is valid for the life of the animal. It is important to notify the City of any change that may occur.

The SPA’s telephone number, as well as the animal’s identification number appear on the medal and should be used in the event that your pet goes missing. The cost of caring for a found animal will be charged to the citizen by the City.

The back of the medal also includes a QR code. Simply activate it on the S.O.S. LOST PETS internet platform, which will allow you to reach the owner directly. This service is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Non-residents who wish to take advantage of the dog park must acquire an access card, valid for the current year, which can be purchased for $30 at City Hall during business hours.

Lost, found, captured

Did you find a dog? If he wears a medal  of the City of Shannon, we invite you to visit the Internet platform S.O.S. LOST PETS. Enter the tag number (10 digits under the QR code) on the back of the medal.

In case the dog does not have a medal, it will be sent to the Quebec SPA located at 1130 Galilée avenue in Quebec City.

To pick it up, please call 418 527-9104.

The City wishes to remind the citizens that the owners of animals captured in Shannon territory, which have been reported to the Société protectrice des animaux de Québec (SPA), will be billed for the cost of the SPA services plus a sum of 15 % as an administrative fee, to recover their animal.

Please note that the City of Shannon does not offer any services for lost or found cats.
