The City of Shannon is under the obligation to issue a public notice upon the adoption of any by-law by the council. This obligation also extends to requests for minor exemption in urban planning for which a public notice must be issued in order to inform citizens of the nature of the request and the date of the meeting during which it will be discussed.
There are also other exceptional circumstances (filing of the assessment roll, municipal elections and by-law on the remuneration of elected officers, etc.) that require public notices.
Public notices are namely displayed at the entrance of the city hall, at the community center, in local newspapers and on the city’s website.
