MEDAL FOR EXCEPTIONAL MERIT AWARDED TO MRS. PAULINE BIGAOUETTE MCCARTHY

On May 4th, the City of Shannon welcomed the Honorable J. Michel Doyon, Lieutenant-Governor, at the ceremony to award the Medal for Exceptional Merit to Mrs. Pauline Bigaouette McCarthy.

Mrs. Bigaouette McCarthy has been a dedicated volunteer for 70 years, getting involved, among others, with the Catholic Women’s League of Shannon (CWL) and the “Shannon Irish Show”. Mrs. Bigaouette McCarthy also worked on setting up Shannon’s very first municipal library.

“Mrs. Bigaouette McCarthy has a special place in the hearts of the people of Shannon, for whom she gave her time without counting,” said Mayor Sarah Perreault.

All these years of volunteer work have not gone unnoticed since Mrs. Bigaouette McCarthy has also received, in the past, the Queen’s Jubilee Medal as well as the National Assembly Medal for her commitment and contribution to the Shannon community.

The Medal for exceptional merit she has just received, surrounded by her family, is therefore added to a list of well-deserved distinctions.

Congratulations Mrs. Bigaouette McCarthy!
