Friday, June 23
Quebec National Day (Saint-Jean Baptiste)

We celebrate Saint-Jean-Baptiste in Shannon! Come celebrate with us as a host of activities await you at the Municipal Park including: Outdoor Zumba, foam party, ice cream truck, ÉducaZoo presentation, hot-dog dinner served by the Shannon firefighters ($) , bar service ($), country dance demonstration, bonfire and evening performance by Fancy Barbare! The event will take place rain or shine.


Friday, June 30
Qc Skateboard Camp

Come and learn to skateboard safely! Watch a pro demo and skateboard lesson. You will receive advice on how to better overcome the various obstacles in the company of two experienced instructors. Activity postponed in case of rain.

 

Saturday July 8
“Conte de Poule pas Mouillée”, Outdoor Story Time and “Seek and Find” Activity

The municipal library invites you to participate in a lively morning at the Community Center and the Municipal Park!

To begin, at the Community Center, children and their parents will be charmed by the show “Conte de Poule pas Mouillée! », presented by France-Anne Blanchet. This original presentation will introduce you to the world of hens, their attributes, their origins and their potential. Thanks to her feathered muses, Ms. France-Anne Blanchet pursues her mission of breaking down prejudices and changing the way we look at others in a playful way.

The show will be followed by outdoor storytime, which will be held in the Municipal Park. We invite young and old to bring blankets to be very comfortable! A great activity to awaken children to the pleasure of reading. The activity will be held inside the Community Center in case of rain.

To stretch the fun, bring your picnic and participate in the “seek and find” activity afterwards if you feel like it. A gift card will be drawn among the participants!

Sunday July 16
Minicycle

The Minicycle program is an ephemeral cycling education park, supervised by animators, which is a small-scale reproduction of a road network with signage. This activity allows children from 2 to 8 years old to play and gain confidence in their skills by cycling through mini-streets designed to their scale in order to learn about the notions of road safety.

 

Friday July 28
Regard Festival – Outdoor Showing of short films

The International Short Film Festival in Saguenay, REGARD is one of the main short film festivals in North America. Several short films aimed particularly at teenagers will be presented in an open-air cinema format at dusk. The activity will be held inside the Community Center in case of rain.

 

Saturday July 29
Outdoor Cinema

Get ready to experience an evening under the stars since the outdoor movie night will be back this summer with the presentation of the film “Coco Ferme” at the Municipal Park. Cotton candy and popcorn service ($) on site! The activity will be held inside the Community Center in case of rain.


Sunday August 6
Outdoor Classical Music Concert

From “The Melody of Happiness” to “Red Violin”, via “Titanic”, Martin Verret and his musicians will introduce you to film music and will evoke for you atmospheres painted in music to support the director’s intention. Each piece is put into context and the lyrical flights of Martin Verret transport you to the very heart of “Music on screen”.

Welcoming New Residents

New to Shannon? Come meet us! On this occasion, various stakeholders will present the many services offered by the City (urban planning, finance, recreation, etc.) as well as the organizations that serve the community. Take the opportunity to meet new people and chat with your new fellow citizens.

 

Saturday September 16
Story Time and Introduction to Cinema Trucages

The municipal library invites you to participate in a lively day at the library and at the Community Center!

In the morning, take part in story time at the library. This early reading activity, much appreciated by toddlers, is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. at the library. Story time will be followed by a craft period.

In the afternoon, at the Community Center, children and their parents will be able to discover the secrets of film tricks. This workshop will allow children to fly like Superman, disappear like Harry Potter or run away from a dinosaur like in the Jurassic World.

These free activities are reserved for library members.
