a) L’arbre doit être mort ou atteint d’une maladie incurable ;

b) L’arbre doit être dangereux pour la sécurité des personnes ;

c) L’arbre doit être une nuisance pour la croissance et le bien-être des arbres voisins ;

d) L’arbre doit causer des dommages à la propriété publique ou privée ;

e) L’arbre doit être nécessairement abattu dans le cadre de l’exécution de travaux publics ;

BEFORE CUTTING… HAVE THE RIGHT TOOL IN HAND!

Would you cut down a tree with your bare hands?

Before felling a tree, you would consider getting the proper tools. The same goes for the City’s tree cutting permit, an essential tool before you start cutting down trees on your property.

According to Zoning By-law No. 601-18, the felling of trees, other than in the context of logging authorized under this By-law, is subject to one or more of the following conditions:

a) The tree must be dead or suffering from an incurable disease;

b) The tree must be dangerous for the safety of people;

c) The tree must be a nuisance to the growth and well-being of neighboring trees;

d) The tree must cause damage to public or private property;

e) The tree must necessarily be felled in the context of the execution of public works;

f) The tree must be felled for the realization of a construction or landscaping project authorized by the City.
