MESSAGE D’INTÉRÊT PUBLIC Parachutistes militaires à l’entraînement dans la MRC de La Jacques-Cartier

La Base de soutien Valcartier souhaite aviser la population que les riverains du lac Saint-Joseph pourraient apercevoir des parachutistes militaires prenant part à un exercice le mardi 21 juin entre 9 h et 13 h. Une centaine de soldats de Valcartier, provenant principalement du 3e Bataillon, Royal 22e Régiment, participeront à cet entraînement du haut des airs.
 
Les sauts à l’eau se dérouleront au-dessus du lac Saint-Joseph au moyen d’un parachute à ouverture automatique à partir de deux hélicoptères CH-146 Griffon. Par petits groupes successifs, les parachutistes militaires sauteront des appareils puis toucheront l’eau, où ils seront repêchés par l’une des sept embarcations militaires de type Zodiac.
 
Trois véhicules militaires (deux camions logistiques de poids moyen et un véhicule utilitaire léger à roues (G Wagon)) pourraient aussi être aperçus sur les lieux de l’exercice.
 
Il est à noter que cet entraînement pourrait être reporté aux prochaines journées de la même semaine, ou même être annulé sans préavis, si les conditions climatiques ne permettent pas sa réalisation de façon sécuritaire.
 
Cet exercice vise essentiellement à permettre aux parachutistes et au personnel de bord du 430e Escadron tactique d’hélicoptères, également basé à Valcartier, de maintenir leurs qualifications, conformément à la réglementation en vigueur.

The 2nd Canadian Division Support Base, Valcartier wishes ton inform the population that residents of the area surrounding the Saint-Joseph Lake may see military parachutists taking part in an exercise on Tuesday, June 21, between 9:00 am and 1:00 pm. About one hundred soldiers from Valcartier, mainly from 3rd Battalion, Royal 22e Régiment, will participate in this training from the air.

The water jumps will take place over the St-Joseph Lake, using an automatically opening parachute from two CH-146 Griffon helicopters. In small successive groups, the soldiers will jump from the helicopters and then land in the water, where they will be picked up by one of seven military Zodiac boats.

Three military vehicles (two medium capacity logistics trucks and a light utility vehicle wheeled (G Wagon)) may also be seen at the exercise site.

It should be noted that this training could be postponed to the following days during the same week or even cancelled without prior notice if the weather prevents it from being carried out safely.

This exercise is essentially intended to allow parachutists and flight crew from 430 Tactical Helicopter Squadron, also based in Valcartier, to maintain their qualifications in accordance with applicable regulations.
