C’est avec fierté et enthousiasme que la Ville de Shannon souligne cette année son 75e anniversaire de fondation.
Une occasion de revisiter certains moments de son passé collectif et de souligner tout le chemin parcouru depuis la première réunion du conseil municipal qui s’est tenue en janvier 1947. Les citoyens sont d’ailleurs invités à consulter les capsules historiques produites par le Conseil local du Patrimoine, publiées sur le site Internet de la Ville, qui témoignent des événements qui ont façonné notre Ville.
La Ville de Shannon, élue la 2e Ville la plus jeune du Québec selon l’Institut de la statistique du Québec, se veut aujourd’hui une Ville dynamique, inclusive et fière de ses origines, notamment en ce qui concerne sa population irlandaise, qui se reflète d’ailleurs dans le logo crée à l’occasion du 75e.
Tout au long des prochains mois, des activités et événements rappelleront la richesse historique de Shannon et l’importance de ce 75e anniversaire.
« J’invite les citoyens à rester à l’affût des communications de la Ville afin d’en apprendre davantage sur la programmation des festivités entourant le 75e, notamment via le site Internet et la page Facebook. Je tiens également à remercier chaleureusement les membres du conseil ainsi que la conseillère Lynn Chiasson, présidente du comité du 75e, ainsi que les membres du Conseil local du Patrimoine et la Société historique de Shannon pour leur contribution exceptionnelle au rayonnement de la Ville » mentionne la mairesse Sarah Perreault.
La Ville de Shannon souhaite remercier M. Joël Godin, député de Portneuf-Jacques-Cartier, pour sa précieuse contribution aux festivités entourant le 75e anniversaire.

THE CITY OF SHANNON CELEBRATES ITS 75TH ANNIVERSARY!
It is with pride and enthusiasm that the City of Shannon marks its 75th anniversary this year.
An opportunity to revisit certain moments of its collective past and to highlight all the progress made since the first meeting of the municipal council held in January 1947. Citizens are also invited to consult the historical capsules produced by the Local Heritage Council, published on the City’s website, which testify to the events that have shaped our City.
The City of Shannon, elected the 2nd youngest city in Quebec according to the Quebec Institute of Statistics, today wants to be a dynamic, inclusive city that is proud of its origins, particularly with regard to its Irish population, which is also reflected in the logo created for the 75th anniversary.
Throughout the coming months, activities and events will recall the rich history of Shannon and the importance of this 75th anniversary.
