Under Municipal By-law number 694-22 it is mandatory for citizens to obtain a burn permit for the following four (4) types of activity:
· Outdoor fireplace (1 year) – Outdoor fireplace whose structure is equipped with a spark arrester.

Note: It is possible to obtain this permit, valid for one year free of charge at the City Hall of Shannon at 50, Saint-Patrick Street during opening hours.
· Outdoor fire / Seasonal campfire (1 year) – Fire of which the size of the burned material does not exceed one (1) meter wide by one meter (1) high, which is lit and fed solely for the purpose cook food, provide a source of heat or use for recreational purposes and is surrounded by non-combustible materials.
It is mandatory to stay on site and have a quick extinguishing device, such as a garden hose or fire extinguisher.
Note: It is possible to obtain this permit, valid for one year free of charge at the City Hall of Shannon at 50, Saint-Patrick Street during opening hours.
· Fire for restricted activity (1 month) – bonfires, giblets, tree limbs and dead leaves.
Note: It is possible to obtain this permit, valid for one month, at a cost of $ 15.00, at the City Hall of Shannon at 50, Saint-Patrick Street during opening hours.
Citizens who apply for this type of permit will receive an invoice by mail to pay the fees.
Restrictions
For restricted activity fires, the manager shall develop and maintain a fire barrier between the forest, houses and burning materials, removing from the surface any combustible material for a distance of at least five (5) times the height of the heaps. It is understood that the Applicant (s) is responsible for the safety of the burn site and must remain on site until the fire is completely extinguished.
· Pyrotechnic pieces (fireworks). Only people who are at least 18 years old are eligible for this type of permit.
· Commercial use (48 hours from date of use) – Fireworks that can not be purchased over-the-counter. Requires the presence of a duly authorized fireworks technician (skill card).
Note: It is possible to obtain this permit, at a cost of $ 15.00, at the Shannon City Hall at 50, Saint-Patrick Street during opening hours.
Citizens who apply for this type of permit will receive an invoice by mail to pay the fees.
· Free use (48 hours from the date of use) – Fireworks (fireworks) that can be purchased over-the-counter at a retailer and can be used for personal use.
Note: It is possible to obtain this permit, at a cost of $ 15.00, at the Shannon City Hall at 50, Saint-Patrick Street during opening hours.
